The celebrations for the closure of the Year for Priests, scheduled for this coming 9-11 June 2010. 11th June 2010 is the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Let us thank the Lord and Mother of Priests for this Great Year for Priests.

On June 13, 1947, Our Lady appeared to Pierina Gilli again in the hospital at Montichiari early one Sunday morning and said, "I wish the 13th of each month to be celebrated as the day of Mary. On the twelve preceding days, special prayers of preparation should be said." I wish the 13th of July of each year to be celebrated in honor of the 'Rosa Mystica,' the Mystical Rose."

As we know it was announced by the Holy Father that there will be a "Year of the Priesthood" from 19th June 2009 - 19th June 2010. The theme will be "Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of the Priest." The year will be opened at Vespers on 19th June (Solemnity of the Sacred Heart) by Pope Benedict. The year coincides with the 150th anniversary of the death of the Curé d'Ars, St John Mary Vianney. Let us pray in a special way to Mary Help of Christians (May 24) and continue to pray through day of Pentacost(31 May) to prepare ourselves for the "Year of Priesthood".

The late Pope John Paul II is one step closer at getting a spot on the altars, now that Benedict XVI will name him venerable. Benedict XVI is expected to sign the decree Saturday December 19th.

Pope John Paul II was a step closer to sainthood Saturday 19th Dec. 2009 after Pope Benedict XVI signed a decree recognizing the late pontiff's "heroic virtues" and declaring him "venerable," and thus he finds a spot at the altar for veneration.
